INSURANCE ANALYST (1261)

CLASS PURPOSE

Under general direction, performs work of considerable difficulty in supervising the City's insurance and self-insurance programs for General Liability and Property Damage. Assures that risk exposures are transferred properly. Performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The incumbent of this single position classification reports to the Risk and Loss Control Manager. The incumbent assists in administering the City's insurance program through the transfer of risk and the purchase of insurance.

Training And Experience

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to successful completion of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, supplemented by courses in Risk Management or successful completion of insurance institute courses; and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience coordinating a comprehensive general liability insurance program, workers' compensation program or benefits, or risk management or insurance underwriting.

Licenses/Certificates

Possession of a valid California driver's license. Possession of a California Fire and Casualty Agent's or Broker's License within one (1) year of employment as Insurance Analyst.
