PARK AIDE I (PART TIME) (2421)
CLASS PURPOSE
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)
Checks visitors into parks and assigns them to proper use area.
Conducts group tours.
Answers questions and explains parks policies and regulations.
Patrols park areas.
Reports unlawful conduct to proper authorities.
Prevents, reports and assists in accidents, fires, and abuse of park grounds and facilities.
Drives light vehicles.
Explains natural and historical features of parks.
Arranges displays at park visitors centers.
Performs general maintenance and clean-up tasks at parks, including KOI fish maintenance tasks.
Staffs collection booth and collects and accounts for fees.
Administers appropriate first aid.
Prepares vandalism reports and other forms as required.
Relates effectively to park visitors.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of the basic functions and services of a park facility.
Ability to speak with the public in a pleasant and effective manner.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to apply basic first aid.
Ability to work on weekends, holidays, and irregular hours.
Ability to add and subtract large and small sums of money.
Competency Knowledges, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of administering a park facility.
Knowledge of maintenance techniques of park areas and buildings.
Knowledge of nature, wildlife, and principles of conservation.
