SENIOR PUMP MAINTENANCE WORKER (3120)

CLASS PURPOSE

   Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in providing supervision and lead direction over a moderate to large crew of maintenance workers engaged in semi-skilled and skilled work in the specialized maintenance and repair of various types of storm and sanitary lift stations.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

   This single position class reports to a Maintenance Supervisor and leads a crew of maintenance workers. This class differs from other classes in the maintenance series in that the work is specialized in the area of operations for storm and sanitary lift stations. The emphasis of this position is the monitoring, maintenance, repair and overhaul of pumps and auxiliary equipment to ensure smooth and trouble free operation of storm and sanitary lift stations on a 24-hour basis.

Training and Experience

   Any combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of high school or possession of a General Educational Development (GED) certificate and four (4) years experience in the maintenance and repair of sanitary and sewer pump stations, sanitary and storm sewer systems motors and auxiliary equipment including at least one (1) year in a lead capacity at the level of a Maintenance Worker II with the City of San Jose.

Licenses/Certificates

   Possession of a valid State of California driver's license at all times is a condition of employment.
