PAINTER SUPERVISOR, WATER POLLUTION CONTROL (3127)
CLASS PURPOSE
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)
Trains and supervises painters.
Schedules, assigns, reviews and supervises work performed by painters.
Completes requisition forms, work order forms and cost estimates.
Delivers supplies and equipment to various work sites.
Instructs subordinates in safe work habits.
Determines appropriate paint or painting products to be used on each job.
Insures that equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
Prepares surfaces to be painted by brush roller, spray gun and other applicators.
Does extensive sandblast surface preparation utilizing sophisticated sandblasting equipment.
Mixes, blends, matches and applies paints, shellacs, varnishes, stains, lacquers and epoxies to walls, ceilings, furniture, moldings, floors and other surfaces.
Utilizes exotic coatings in a variety of specialized wastewater treatment equipment such as Digesters, Aeration Tanks, Gas Holders, Clarifiers.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of principles of supervision.
Knowledge of training principles.
Knowledge of lacquers and paints.
Knowledge of high performance protective coatings used in a heavy industrial environment.
Knowledge of safety practices as applied to painting.
Knowledge of materials, tools, equipment and techniques used in painting.
Knowledge of exotic coatings and their application methods.
Knowledge of air quality standards and their impact on coating applications.
Knowledge, ability and willingness to conform to and comply with local, state and federal air quality rules/regulations as they apply to the coatings application industry.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to prioritize projects as needed in an industrial environment.
Ability to establish effective working relationships.
Ability to train apprentice painters and other employees.
Competency Knowledges, Skills and Abilities
Ability to procure and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
Ability to schedule, assign, review and supervise work of skilled, semi-skilled and other employees.
Ability to set priorities for work completion.
Ability to determine manpower necessary for work completion.
Ability to deal with suppliers of coatings to determine their merit in our specialty applications.
Knowledge of waste disposal regulations.
