METAL FABRICATION MECHANIC (3172)

CLASS PURPOSE

   Under general supervision, performs journey-level metalwork of moderate difficulty in the design, fabrication, repair and installation of metal parts, equipment and structural members. Performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

   This class differs from that of Equipment Maintenance Machinist in that the latter perform precision, journey-level machining on lathes, mills etc. while incumbents of the former occasionally use machining equipment to the extent of their skill level. It differs from equipment Maintenance Supervisor in that the latter class supervises the former.

Training and Experience

   Training and education equivalent to completion of high school, and two (2) years journey-level experience in one of the metal trades or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in one of the metal trades.

Licenses/Certificates

   Possession of a valid California Driver's License at all times is a condition of employment.
