AIRPORT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (3244)

CLASS PURPOSE
   Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty supervising crews of workers in the maintenance and repair of Airport facilities, equipment and associated grounds. Performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
   This class is the third level in a three class Airport Maintenance series. Incumbents supervise a group of Airport Maintenance Workers and other assigned personnel in the maintenance and repair of Airport facilities and associated grounds, under the general supervision of the Building Maintenance Superintendent. This class differs from the next higher level class of Building Maintenance Superintendent in the scope of responsibility, and incumbents are supervised by the incumbent of the latter. This class differs from the next lower class of Airport Maintenance Worker II in that incumbents in that class are supervised by Airport Maintenance Supervisors.

Special Airport Requirement
   This Airport specific classification requires each candidate to satisfactorily complete a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 10-year employment history verification which may include a criminal history records check prior to being considered for a position in this class.

Training and Experience
   Any combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of high school, including or supplemented by additional training in mechanical, building or airport maintenance trades, and four (4) years of experience in building or public works maintenance which included two (2) years supervision or lead direction experience in a large facility at the level of a Maintenance Worker II or higher.

Licenses/Certificates
   Possession of a valid California driver's license. An FCC Class III operator's license must be obtained within a reasonable time after employment.
