CAPITAL PROJECTS PROGRAM COORDINATOR (3433)
CLASS PURPOSE
Under direction, is responsible for work of moderate difficulty in the development, planning, analysis and operation of a capital building projects management system that provides a systematic, controlled and coordinated process for scheduling, monitoring and evaluating short and long-term building renovation and building upgrade projects. Performs related administrative work as required.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)
Prepares plans and implement the department's Capital Projects system.
Confers with department administrators and managers on short and long-term needs.
Develops plans to identify, define, analyze and prioritize needs.
Supervises or leads in gathering information to determine needs.
Analyses input and statistics and generates reports.
Coordinates and monitors project such as new building construction.
Plans and coordinates building construction upgrades and renovation.
Prepares reports and recommendations to improve departmental operations, service systems or organizational needs.
Supervises and coordinate staff support activities related to capital projects or maintenance.
Uses automation data processing application software, including spreadsheets and databases, to analyze and present information.
Performs cost analysis of various construction projects.
Typical End Results Include
Short-term and long-term capital improvement facility renovations and upgrades properly scheduled.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This class is responsible for scheduling, monitoring and evaluation of short and long-term building renovation and building upgrades.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of budgeting and management systems.Knowledge of contract and grant administration principles.
Ability to write reports.
Knowledge of basic research techniques and statistical methods.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to organize, analyze and interpret data.
Ability to use computer systems and software.
Competency Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles of building projects management.
Knowledge of the organization, functions and processes of City government.
Knowledge of City codes, procedures and policies relating to construction and building projects.
Knowledge of the principles of building projects management.
Knowledge of contract writing techniques and format, such as Request for Proposal (RFP), and Request for Quotation (RFQ).
Knowledge of negotiation techniques.
Ability to use computer application software to compile, analyze data, and present information.
Education
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience
Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience coordinating buildings and facilities repair and renovation projects.

Licenses/Certificates
Possession of a valid State of California driver's license.
