PLANT MECHANICAL SUPERVISOR (3624)
CLASS PURPOSE
Under direction, performs work of considerable difficulty involving the
supervision of the maintenance, repair, and overhauling of varied plant
equipment and structures at the Water Pollution Control Plant. Performs related
work as required.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)
Typical End Results Include: Ensuring timely completion of work through coordination of work crews; assuring minimum machinery/equipment downtime by establishing preventive maintenance programs; reducing expenditures by determining minimum level or repair/modifications necessary to return machinery/equipment to normal operational status; and maintaining a competent and motivated plant maintenance staff.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a single position class reporting to the Principal Engineer,
Maintenance Services. Supervision is exercised over all personnel assigned to
the Plant Mechanical Section. This class differs from the next higher class in
terms of responsibility and scope of the job. It differs from the next lower
class in terms of level of supervision exercised.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Graduation from high school or equivalent (General Educational Diploma [GED]
or California Proficiency Certificate).
Experience
Four (4) years of experience as a journey level mechanic, including one (1)
year lead experience at the Senior Plant Mechanic level.

None.
License/Certificates
Possession of a valid California driver's license.
