WATER METER READER (PART-TIME) (3634)

CLASS PURPOSE
   Under immediate supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in reading water meters and recording consumption of water. Performs related work as required.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
   Incumbents in this entry level class primarily read water meters, while those in the next higher class of Water System Technician primarily service and repair water meters and other water-related equipment. This class is supervised by the Water System Supervisor, and may receive lead direction from Water System Technicians and the Senior Water System Technician, when assisting with repairs and testing.

Training And Experience
   Any combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of high school.

License/Certificates
   Possession of a valid driver's license authorizing operation of a motor vehicle in California.
   As a condition of employment, incumbents may be required to use their personal vehicles in performing the job duties.
