CLASS PURPOSE
   Under immediate supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in the observation, counting, and recording of traffic data. Performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
   This is the entry level in a two class series. Incumbents perform work of routine difficulty involving the observation, recording, summation and treatment of traffic data preparatory to analysis. Traffic Checker I differs from Traffic Checker II in that incumbents of the former class perform routine, repetitive duties and receive lead direction from incumbents of the latter class.

Education
   Successful completion of high school, General Educational Development (G.E.D.) Certificate, or California Proficiency Certificate.

Experience
   None.

Acceptable Substitutions
   None.

Licenses/Certificates
   Possession of a valid driver's license authorizing operation of motor vehicle in the State of California.
