CLASS SUMMARY:
   Positions in this class are designed to perform duties of a temporary nature for a period not to exceed two calendar years. Appointment to these positions is at will with no right to continued employment. Positions within this classification are categorized according to their functional responsibilities and pay for each position will generally equal the salary range in the most similar civil service classification at the time service is begun. 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
   Since positions in this unclassified civil service classification are categorized according to their functional responsibilities, the level of benefits depends on the job assignment as follows: 

• Temporary Employee FT Nmb (9986) Receives Non-Management benefits 
• Temporary Employee FT Mb (9988) Receives Management benefits 
• Temporary Employee PT Receives no benefits 
• Positions that are part time (Job Code 9985) are less than 39 hours per week. Compensation is hourly. 

QUALIFICATIONS
   Qualifications are based on the needs of the individual position and are similar to comparable civil service classifications. 

Education and Experience:
   Any combination of training and experience similar to comparable civil service classifications as determined by the hiring department management and the Human Resources Department prior to recruitment for the position. 

Licensing Requirements:
   As required for comparable civil service classifications.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities and Desirable Qualifications:
   As required for comparable civil service classifications. 

TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
   As required for similar civil service classifications.
