Get your school involved in the effort to create a sustainable future for the Bay Area. School districts throughout the region play a vital role in achieving sustainability, and this conference is designed to teach schools how to go green!
About the Conference
This year will mark the 4th annual Bay Area Schools Environmental Conference. Sponsored by the Environmental Services Department’s Go Green Schools program, the conference was established to recognize “green” achievements, allow for sharing of best practices, and connect Bay Area schools with a variety of educational and operational resources.
San José’s Go Green program has produced several success stories from schools that have implemented environmental initiatives, such as the Union School District which has reached a 76% recycling rate by implementing a zero waste program and Baker Elementary School which has saved thousands of dollars each year by switching to reusable baskets for their lunch program. Through the conference, the Go Green program hopes to spread the success of such green initiatives to schools beyond San José and throughout the Bay Area region.
