City of San José Projects

Nine City projects were identified for early incorporation of the adopted Green Building Policy and to evaluate for potential cost impacts. These projects include eight Public Works projects (four branch libraries, three community centers, and the Civic Center) and one Redevelopment Agency project (Alum Rock Youth Center). The West Valley Branch Library is the first of these City projects to achieve LEED Certification.

LEED Projects

The number of projects certified through the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System is growing. Case study examples of the buildings that have completed the requirements for certification are available on the USGBC Project List web site. The information provided for each project includes an overview of the strategies employed to meet the rating level achieved. In some cases, the actual LEED scorecard for the project is included. Also available on the site is a list of projects registered with the intent of earning LEED certification at project completion.
