Phil Williams – Vice
President, Webcor
Builders
Sustainable
Design and Construction (PDF, 1.39 MB)
Phil Williams heads the "Sustainability" and "Systems Engineering" groups as a Vice President at Webcor Builders. Webcor's approach to sustainability is to, very early in the design process, offer owners and the entire design team the types of options that could enable the project to obtain at least LEED Certification. On every project, Webcor provides a LEED Accredited Professional as a full time member of the project team. This team member is assigned from within the company and as an integral part of the project, assures that the project team has the in-site and experience of a LEED AP, independent of any LEED rating (or non-rating).
This approach successfully allows Phil and Webcor to design and build several high density multi-family residential projects in California that are LEED Registered or are being engineered and built with a concentrated focus on "Sustainable" design. They include:
- Central Place (San Jose, CA)
- Campus For Jewish Life (Palo Alto, CA)
- The Infinity (San Francisco, CA)
- Grand Ave (Los Angeles, CA)
- LA Live (Los Angeles, CA).
In addition Mr. Williams is also personally working on such notable LEED Registered projects as:
- Symantec (Gold), Culver City, CA
- Letterman Digital Arts Center (Gold), San Francisco, CA
- The California Academy of Sciences (Platinum), San Francisco, CA
Phil Williams is a licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in California, a LEED Accredited professional and he is also an active member of the US Green Building Council (USGBC), San Francisco Mayor's Green Building Task Force, Center for the Built Environment (CBE), Sustainable Silicon Valley, Business Council on Climate Change (BC-3) and Center for Integrated Facilities Engineering (CIFE).
