Teacher Training Workshops

Throughout the year, the Environmental Services Department conducts teacher training workshops on watershed, recycling and composting topics. These workshops, led by Department staff, use hands-on activities correlated with California Curriculum Content Standards. All curriculum materials are provided free to participating educators.

The Department also collaborates with other area agencies to promote their teacher training workshops from this web page.

Wacky Watersheds In-Service Training Module

Wacky watersheds In-Service Training utilizes an interactive, hands-on approach.

Learning about our watershed is a way to integrate concepts across curricula while drawing upon real world, local issues. We offer in-service training or teacher development day watershed workshops tailored to suit your needs. Stipends are available for teachers who complete an action project with their students.

Cost:

Free to Santa Clara County educators in grades 6 to 8.

South Bay Water Connections

South Bay Water Connections training materials are available to educators who attend the training workshop.

South Bay Water Connections is offered through training workshops to all educators working with 6th-8th graders in the San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plant service area. Composting in the Classroom

A group of students take a closer look at the worms from a composting worm bin.

The Home Composting Education Program of Santa Clara County can help your school start a composting program. Composting at school is EXCITING! Kids love it!

Schedule a teacher training or class presentation on how to compost at school. We prefer to begin programs early in the school year so students can see the changes in the compost as the year progresses. For more information please contact:
