Industrial, Commercial Activities & Stormwater Pollution

Certified Surface Cleaners

Did you know that the dirt, debris, and wastewater from surface cleaning can pollute local creeks and the Bay?

Local storm drains flow directly to the creeks and the Bay without treatment! That's right. Unless contractors and facilities use certified Best Mangement Practices to prevent contaminants from entering storm drains, you could be polluting our environment. It's not only wrong, it's illegal. Your facility can be fined $500.00 a day for each incident.

The Bay Area Stormwater Management Agencies Association (BASMAA) provides a searchable database of certified surface cleaners. These businesses have completed the BASMAA Pollution Prevention Training Program.
