Water Efficient Technologies (WET)
The Water Efficient Technologies (WET) program offers rebates of
up to $50,000 per water efficiency project to businesses that discharge
to the San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plant. The Plant's
service area includes San José, Santa Clara, Milpitas, Campbell, Cupertino,
Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, and Saratoga. WET is sponsored by the Plant and
the Santa Clara Valley Water District.
In
1999, Intel received a rebate of nearly $45,000 for a water conservation
project that makes perfect business sense and helps to protect the salt
marsh habitat of the Bay. We now recycle reject waters from our reverse
osmosis system in our on site cooling towers.

In 2005, Adobe Systems received a WET rebate of $5,396 for retrofitting urinals in its three campus towers. We replaced older 1.5-gallon flush urinals with zero water consumption urinals, and have been very satisfied with the performance of the new urinals. The project resulted in over 1 million gallons of water saved per year and helped Adobe achieve LEED Platinum certification for Existing Buildings, a major achievement for Green Building certification.

Your rebate is based on how much your project reduces
flows to the sanitary sewer system. Your project's water savings (in 100
cubic feet) is multiplied by $4.00 to determine your rebate.
The max is $50,000 or 50% of project cost.
Of course, this is in addition to the savings on your
water and sewer bills. Calculating savings is easy ...
Here's how. |
