If they don’t have reserved parking, where will my employees park?
Employees arriving early in the day (8:00 or earlier) should have little difficulty finding parking on all three days. Those arriving later, particularly on Sunday, should build additional time into their schedules to use public transit or find parking in the lots further from downtown.
You may be able to make special arrangements with lots and garages in the area.
Public transit is an affordable option (see next question).

What about public transit? Where will the temporary stops be? Will existing services be changed?
The San Jose Grand Prix is encouraging attendees to use the wide variety of public transportation services available. More information about the transportation options can be found at http://www.sjdowntownparking.com which discusses links to light rail, train, bus and shuttle offerings.
Bus and shuttle routes have been changed to accommodate the location of the race. These route changes will go into effect Wednesday night after 11:59 p.m. when the track is closed until Sunday night when the streets are reopened. A bus “bridge” will link light rail services between the W. San Fernando St. light rail station and the 1st St. at Santa Clara St. station.

I’m concerned that I won’t have enough space in my private lot for my employees and clients. Can I refuse to allow public parking in my lot?
With limited parking available in downtown, there is likely to be considerable interest in any available spaces. Unless otherwise restricted through agreements or permitting, if you need to maintain your private spaces for your business’ needs, you may certainly restrict public access. If you are a tenant in a building, please confer with your building’s owner. On-street parking is public and may not be restricted except through special permits available through the Department of Transportation.

I’ve got more parking than I need for the race weekend. Can I sell parking spaces to the public in my private lot?
This event may present your company with additional revenue opportunities if you own spaces that you will not need. If you are considering leasing parking spaces you should be clear with those parking what restrictions you have (e.g.: by when will they need to leave) and understand where your liability begins and ends. In addition, you may need to have a business tax (license) certificate – check with Finance at 535-7055.

What will be the noise impact associated with this race? Naturally, it's a car race so it will be loud. The volume will vary significantly over each day of the event depending on what types of activities (or lack thereof) are taking place on the track. Those residents and businesses closer to the track will be affected more than those further away. A complete list of testing, qualifying and race times can be found on the official race website: http://www.sanjosegrandprix.com.

How can I have a car towed from my private lot?
Private lot operators will have to enter into a contract with a private tow company. That tow company is than responsible for getting the necessary permits from the Police Department and posting notices in the lot. They cannot tow vehicles away without this posting. Once the required permits are obtained and the lot is posted, then the contracted tow company can tow illegally parked vehicles at the car owner's expense.
