The community-based General Plan Update, currently underway, provides an opportunity to establish sustainability goals beyond the 15 year Green Vision. The Envision San Jose 2040 General Plan will be a blueprint for the future of the city, identifying land uses, transportation systems and connections, open space, natural resource protections, etc. The Plan will also address the provision of critical services, such as police and fire protection, parks, etc., to ensure a balanced and well-functioning city. This Plan builds on prior efforts by exploring opportunities for residents and employees to walk or bicycle to retail, entertainment venues, parks, and schools throughout the city. The General Plan Update, Envision San José 2040, will include clear and measurable standards for sustainable development. |
