San José has over 50 miles of trails and more than 150 miles of bike lanes offering commuting and recreational access to many of the City's neighborhoods. Grant funding is the primary means used to expand the trail network. The City plans to build at least three miles of trail per year, but funding is dependent on successful grant applications.
Expanding our system of trails to 100 miles will allow residents to travel more easily by bicycle or on foot, as well as encourage exploration and education about our natural habitat so residents better understand the benefits of a healthy environment and value its preservation.
