DATA PROCESSING CONTROL CLERK (1322)
CLASS PURPOSE
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)
Reviews data processing input for acceptability and output for quality.
Logs input and channels work to and from data entry section.
Exercises control over the use, storage, and disposition of all media files, including the tape library.
Balances certain input and output in accordance with established procedures.
Stages all production jobs for the computer operations section by completion of job run sheets, tape numbers to be used, number of copies needed and any other special instructions.
Investigates erroneous, unusual, or machine rejected data to determine proper disposition and ensures proper re-introduction to the processing cycle.
Decollates, bursts and distributes computer output in accordance with established procedures.
Operates data processing and forms handling equipment.
Maintains up-to-date manuals and procedures.
May be required to perform shift work.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of basic data processing and office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of clerical record keeping practices.
Ability to detect problems in data processing control and pursue courses of action to correct them.
Ability to make comparisons of figures quickly and accurately.
Ability to lift boxes of cards, forms, and checks as necessary for the performance of duties.
Competency Knowledges, Skills and Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, especially data processing users.
