GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEMS SPECIALIST II (1383)

CLASS PURPOSE

   Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty at the journey level in the utilization of geographic information systems, or the utilization of the computerized traffic forecast model. Performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

   This is the journey level position in the Geographic Systems Specialist series. An incumbent in this class has acquired the skills to independently perform technical geographic systems work of moderate difficulty. This class differs from that of Geographic Systems Specialist I in that an incumbent of the latter performs the more routine assignments in a training capacity. This class differs from that of Senior Geographic Systems Specialist in that an incumbent of the latter performs the most complex and difficult geographic systems work and leads or supervises incumbents in Geographic Systems Specialist classes.

Training and Experience

   Any combination of training and experience equivalent to successful completion a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, engineering, physical science, mathematics, geography, urban planning or related field and one (1) year of increasingly responsible experience in computer programming, geographic information systems, or transportation planning.
