TRANSPORTATION PLANNING SYSTEM MANAGER (1386)

CLASS PURPOSE

   Under general direction, plans, organizes, coordinates and performs the most difficult technical work in the utilization of computerized traffic forecast modeling for long-range transportation planning. Performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

   An incumbent of this class is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and use of computerized traffic forecast models. This class is distinguished from that of Senior Geographic Systems Specialist in the level and scope of responsibility. An incumbent of this class supervises individuals in the Geographic Systems Specialist series involved in traffic forecast modeling.

Training And Experience

   Any combination of training and experience equivalent to successful completion of a Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, computer science, physical science, mathematics, urban planning or closely related field and four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in transportation planning using large scale computerized traffic forecast modeling techniques comparable to those used by the City of San Jose, including at least two (2) years of geographic information systems experience.
