POLICE PROPERTY SPECIALIST II (1522)

CLASS PURPOSE

   Under general supervision, performs duties of moderate difficulty in leading and performing receipt, processing, and disposal of narcotics, monies, hazardous materials, and all types of weapons. Applies provisions of State, City, and Federal Codes and Ordinances as they relate to property in the custody of the San Jose Police Department. Distributes and collects officer equipment at Central Supply. Performs related duties as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

   This class is the second level in the Police Property Specialist series. It differs from the next higher class of Senior Police Property Specialist in that incumbents of the latter supervise Police Property Specialists. This class differs from that of Police Property Specialist I in that incumbents of that class receive work direction from this class.

Training and Experience

   High school graduation and two (2) years experience in receiving, storing, and disposing of evidence and property (equivalent to Police Property Specialist I). There shall be no substitution of additional education for the required experience.

Licenses/Certificates

   Possession of a valid California driver's license.

   Shall be required to qualify for Mace certification.
