CLASS PURPOSE

   Under direction, is responsible for professional analytic work of considerable difficulty in a variety of staff analytic assignments relative to budget preparation, review, analysis, and administration; organization and methods; development, implementation, and evaluation of manpower programs; grant program performance; general administration; and personnel analysis.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

   This is the fully-experienced level in general staff analytic work where the incumbent can independently perform professional analytic work of considerable difficulty. The specific duties of this class will vary, contingent upon the location and the assignments of the position. This class differs from the class of Analyst I in that incumbents of the latter class perform routine analytic work under closer general supervision. This class differs from the class of Senior Analyst in that incumbents of the latter class normally lead or supervise other professionals to include incumbents of this class, and perform the most complex and difficult professional analytic assignments.

Education

   A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Public Administration or closely related field.

Experience

   Two years of increasingly responsible professional staff analytic or administrative experience at the level of Analyst I with the City of San Jose.

Acceptable Substitutions

   Experience as a Staff Technician with the City of San Jose may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.
