CLASS SUMMARY:

   Incumbents are responsible for managing a section such as the Arts Program, Special Events Program or the Events and Technical Services Program within a Division of a Convention, Arts & Entertainment Department. The section typically includes higher levels of professional or technical personnel and supervision is generally through subordinate supervisors.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

   The CAE Section Manager typically reports to a Division Manager, but may report directly to a Deputy Director in the organization where the Deputy Director manages a Division. The CAE Section Manager is distinguished from the Division Manager, who has responsibility for an organization with more budget responsibility and impact on the community or the customer base, and reports to the Department Director or Deputy Director. The Section Manager, CAE is distinguished from the lower level Unit Manager (who may have a variety of different titles including Superintendent or Supervisor ) who directly supervises lower levels of professional, technical and support personnel.

Training and Experience (positions in this class typically require):

   Bachelor’s Degree in a closely related field and five years of progressively responsible experience, including two years of supervisory experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

1. Supervises subordinate supervisory and other staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.  Daily

Physical Requirements:

   Positions in this class typically require: reaching, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

   Incumbents may be subjected to travel.

   Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
