DEPUTY REDEVELOPMENT MANAGER (U) (1684)

CLASS PURPOSE

   Under general administrative direction of the Redevelopment Manager, the incumbent is responsible for performing complex administrative functions of unusual difficulty by providing effective and efficient administrative direction on programs and projects of the Redevelopment Agency. The incumbent will conduct negotiations of unusual complexity as assigned. This position assists the Redevelopment Manager (Executive Director) in the execution of all redevelopment policies and programs. Performs related work on specially assigned projects as required.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)

TYPICAL END RESULTS INCLUDE: Effective and efficient policies, programs, development projects and negotiations of the Redevelopment Agency; effective public and media relations; effective advisement to Redevelopment Manager and  division managers; coordination between divisions and with outside agencies.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is a position in the unclassified service. The incumbent is responsible for execution of policies, programs and projects in order to fulfill the goals and objectives of the Redevelopment Agency. This class differs from the class of Redevelopment Manager in the scope of executive responsibility.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  Any combination of training and experience equivalent to successful completion of a Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in planning, architecture, urban design, public or business administration or related field plus five (5) years of experience in a responsible administrative capacity involving planning, organizing and executing varied redevelopment or development programs.
