CLASS PURPOSE
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)
Administers and maintains an ongoing covert Robbery Prevention Camera Program and "Varda Alarm" system.
Installs, services, and maintains electronic alarms and camera equipment used in the Robbery Prevention Program.
Maintains the assignment files (IBM/PC). This includes data entry and preparing ongoing reports as needed.
Analyzes Police Department crime reports and crime trends relating to robbery and other related crimes.
Advises Police Department/unit commanders on audio-visual equipment acquisition and use.
Trains staff in the utilization and operation of equipment.
Advises unit commander as to locations and criteria needed for installation of equipment.
Eliminates or minimizes potential equipment failure during robberies and/or false activation of equipment.
Educates and trains business personnel in the use of equipment.
Follows all Police Department policies and procedures.
Performs any special projects assigned by the Robbery Unit Commander.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of maintenance and operation of 35 mm cameras and alarm systems.
Ability to lift equipment up to 40 lbs.
Ability to climb up and down a ladder during installation of equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

Special Requirements
Pass an in-depth background investigation with no felony convictions.
Pass a drug screen and physical exam.
