PARK RANGER FULL-TIME (2423)

PARK RANGER PART-TIME (2424)

CLASS PURPOSE

   Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in public contact and park protection. Performs related work as required.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

   An incumbent of this class may provide lead direction to small crews of employees engaged in visitor service, park operations, enforce rules and regulations, provide emergency services, and performs park protection work. This class differs from that of Park Aide II in that incumbents of the latter have not been deputized and do not perform enforcement duties. This class differs from that of Senior Park Ranger in that the latter supervises incumbents of the former.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

   Any combination of training and experience equivalent to successful completion of two (2) years of college in a major with emphasis in park management, park operations, natural or environmental science, or closely related field.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

   Possession of a valid driver's license authorizing operation of a motor vehicle in the State of California. Possession of current Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certificates within the first 6 months of employment.

Deputization as a Peace Officer.
