SENIOR PARKING CONTROL OFFICER (2453)

CLASS PURPOSE

   Under direction, performs supervisory parking/traffic control work of routine difficulty for a crew of Parking Control Officers for the purpose of enforcing motor vehicle parking regulations. Also may include supervision of direction of vehicular and pedestrian traffic at specific intersections or other specified locations, such as the San Jose International Airport and San Jose Arena. Responds to citizens' complaints, assists in the enforcement of the Airport Ground Transportation regulations, and other related duties as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

   This class is in the Parking Control series. It differs from Parking Control Officer in that members of this class supervise members of the latter class.

Education

   Completion of high school, or General Education Development (GED) Certificate, or California Proficiency Certificate.

Experience

   Two (2) years of experience requiring independent decision-making and considerable contact with the general public in parking control enforcement or a similar regulatory function.

Acceptable Substitutions

   An additional year of education may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of work experience.

Licenses/Certificates

   Possession of a valid driver’s license authorizing operation of a motor vehicle in California is required. Possession of First Aid/CPR certification may be required.
