MAINTENANCE WORKER I (3113)

CLASS PURPOSE

   Under immediate supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in the maintenance and repair of streets, sewers and public facilities. Performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

   Incumbents in this class perform a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of streets, sewers and public facilities. This class differs from that of Maintenance Assistant in that the latter performs unskilled laboring tasks. This class differs from that of Maintenance Worker II in that the latter exercises lead direction over a small crew while performing skilled and semi-skilled work.

Training And Experience

   Any combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of high school or possession of a General Educational Development (GED) certificate and one (1) year of experience in the maintenance and repair of streets, sewers, parks and public facilities.

Licenses/Certificates

   As a condition of employment in some designated positions, possession of a valid State of California Class A or B driver's license with applicable endorsements may be required in the performance of job duties.
