TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)

• Determines appropriate materials and equipment to be used on each job.
• Schedules, assigns and reviews work performed by carpenters and other employees.
• Completes work order and requisition forms.
• Procures, distributes and delivers materials and equipment to work sites.
• Maintains adequate inventory of supplies.
• Ensures that tools and equipment are properly cleaned, maintained, stored and secured.
• Performs skilled carpentry work in the construction, alteration, maintenance and repair of City buildings, structures, furniture, equipment and other projects.

• Incumbents of this class provide lead direction or supervision to journey level carpenters and other employees.
• Incumbents of this class are responsible for the scheduling, assigning and reviewing of work performed by journey level carpenters.

• Knowledge of practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the carpentry trade.
• Knowledge of building codes pertaining to carpentry.
• Knowledge of safety practices and precautions as applicable to carpentry.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, oral and written instructions.

• Ability to procure and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Ability set priorities for work completion.
• Ability to determine manpower necessary for work completion.
• Ability to schedule, assign, and review work of skilled, unskilled and other employees.
