EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (3341)

CLASS PURPOSE
Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in operating light to moderately heavy motorized construction and maintenance equipment for the City’s parks maintenance program. Performs related work as required.

This class differs from other equipment operator classes in terms of the type of equipment operated The class is unique in its responsibility for operating a variety of equipment used in parks and airport maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Knowledges, Skills and Abilities

Competency Knowledges, Skills and Abilities

Education
Completion of high school, possession of a G.E.D. certificate or California Proficiency Certificate.

Experience
One (1) year of experience in operating and maintaining the mechanized equipment used in the City’s parks maintenance program such as tractors, backhoes, power augers, gang/rotary mowers and front-end loaders.

Acceptable Substitution
None.

Licenses/Certificates
As a condition of employment in some designated positions, possession of a valid State of California Class A or B driver's license with applicable endorsements may be required in the performance of job duties.
