SENIOR HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (3345)

CLASS PURPOSE
   Under general direction, performs work of moderate difficulty in supervising and leading crews in operating heavy motorized construction equipment. Requires a high degree of skill in the maintenance of City streets and sewer lines, and in the conduct of wastewater treatment operations. Performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
   Positions in this class report to a Senior Plant Operator. This class differs from the Senior Operator class in level of responsibility and scope of the job. This class differs from that of Heavy Equipment Operator in that incumbents supervise Heavy Equipment Operators.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
   Completion of high school, or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate, or California Proficiency Certificate.

Experience
   Four (4) years of experience operating heavy motorized equipment such as that used in the construction trades.

Acceptable Substitutions
   None.

Licenses/Certificates
Possession of a valid State of California Class A driver's license with applicable endorsements is required.
