CLASS PURPOSE
Under administrative direction, performs work of considerable difficulty planning, organizing and directing a major division of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services. Performs related work as required.

TYPICAL END RESULTS INCLUDE
Provision of services and maintenance of facilities that offer recreation, education, entertainment, human services and enrichment opportunities to all citizens; protection and enhancement of the human and environmental resources of the City; a sound marketing program; and fiscal plans and controls; revenue generation; resource allocation; organizational development; representation of the Department within the City and with outside agencies; administrative direction of the division.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
An incumbent in this classification is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the programs of a major division of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services. Incumbents report to the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Knowledges, Skills and Abilities
Training And Experience:
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Parks Administration, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Public or Business Administration or a closely related field (a master's degree is desirable), plus five (5) years of administrative experience including at least two (2) years of management level experience in one or more of the following areas: park maintenance; recreation and human services; and the development and operation of public and/or private commercial recreation programs and facilities.
License/Certificates
Possession of a valid driver's license authorizing operation of a motor vehicle in the State of California.
