SUMMARY:
Under direction, markets and promotes
City programs, park services, facilities and departments.
This is the entry-level class in the Marketing & Public Outreach Representative three level series, responsible for carrying out specific tasks within a project or campaign. This class differs from that of Marketing & Public Outreach Representative II in that the incumbents of the later class are at the full journey-level, and have general responsibility for design, coordination, and execution of specific projects or the day-to-day activities of established campaigns, and may lead incumbents of the Marketing & Public Outreach Representative I class.
QUALIFICATIONS

experience, knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to satisfactorily perform
the duties of the job may be substituted.)
Education
and Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited
college or university in advertising, marketing, public relations, or a closely
related field with no minimum experience required.
Licensing
Requirements
Valid
California Driver’s License may be required.
Minimum
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (position requirements at entry and depending on
area of assignment)
Knowledge of
modern marketing and public relations techniques, and promotional events
planning.
Knowledge
of modern principles of organization and administration.
Knowledge
of writing and editing techniques for a variety of audiences.
Knowledge
of basic survey and research and analysis methodology and techniques.
Ability
to use desktop publishing techniques.
Ability
to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Desirable

Experience
with developing or maintaining a website.
Experience
in any area of advertising, marketing or public relations.
Ability
to develop and maintain good working relationships with a wide variety of public

Ability
to relate effectively with people of all cultures.
Ability
to use existing computer software programs and to learn new applications as

Provides creative writing and other technical assistance for
a variety of collateral materials including news releases, brochures, and
Audio/Video scripts; designs and produces such materials using desktop
publishing techniques.
