CLASS SUMMARY:
  Performs and leads others in developing and managing complex marketing and promotion of major City programs, park services, facilities and departments.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
  This is the second level class in the three class Marketing & Public Outreach series, responsible for the design, coordination, and execution of specific projects or the day-to-day activities of established campaigns. Incumbents may lead incumbents of the Marketing & Public Outreach Representative I class and are supervised by the Marketing & Public Outreach Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS
(These qualifications are typically required. An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be substituted.)

Education and Experience
   A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in advertising, marketing, public relations, or a closely related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible professional marketing or public relations experience.

Licensing Requirements
   Valid California Driver’s License may be required.

       Plans and implements marketing and promotion of a City program, and assists in the management of related budgets.

   Develops, writes, edits and produces promotional materials to create public awareness of programs; may include development and maintenance of websites or determining content for website.

  Responds orally or in writing to inquiries and provides information for the public on services, facilities and programs.

  Makes daily work assignments for support staff and assists them in carrying out these duties.

  Provides creative writing and other technical assistance for a variety of collateral materials including news releases, brochures and Audio/Video scripts; designs and produces such materials using desktop publishing techniques.

 Conducts, or monitors vendors who conduct, public opinion surveys and market analyses to identify existing and potential markets and target audiences.

  Plan and organize the logistics for participation in fundraising or sponsorship of special events, seminars, trade shows or missions and promotions.

  Plans and participates in outreach events and marketing presentations.

 Conducts fund-raising/development projects to enhance or expand City services and programs.

  Coordinates volunteer services to train docents and others involved in community relations programs. Participates in preparation and evaluation of of Requests for Proposals; ensures production quality and on-time performance of vendors; resolves diputes with vendors.
