CLASS PURPOSE
   Under immediate supervision, performs work of routine difficulty involving participation in and support of a variety of recreational programs of outdoor or indoor activities.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
   This class is the second level of three in the Recreation Leadership series. It differs from the next lower class of Recreation Aide in that incumbents of the latter class function in a support capacity to other recreation personnel. It differs from the next higher class of Senior Recreation Leader in that incumbents of the latter class may supervise this class and are responsible for planning and conducting a variety of recreation activities and events.

Education
   Completion of high school, General Education Development (GED) Certificate, or California Proficiency Certificate.

Experience
   No minimum requirement.

   None.

Licenses/Certificates

Necessary Special Qualification
   Those applicants in their last semester of high school are permitted to apply, but will be required to provide proof of graduation prior to obtaining a work assignment.
