Don Rocha

Councilmember Don Rocha earned his seat representing the District 9 community on the San Jose City Council in the November 2010 election, and was re-elected to serve a second term in 2014.  The council district is located between Willow Glen and Almaden Valley, in the southwest corner of San Jose, bordering Campbell and Los Gatos. 

Councilmember Rocha was born and raised in San Jose, where he attended both Del Mar and Archbishop Mitty High Schools. He attended West Valley College and later earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a Minor in Philosophy from San Diego State University. Prior to being elected to the San Jose City Council, Donald served as a Cambrian School District Board Member. 

Councilmember Rocha has a strong background in economic development from his long commitment to public service, working for various state and local agencies and for the San José Redevelopment Agency (SJRA). Currently, he serves as the Chair of the Neighborhood Services & Education Committee and a member of the Community & Economic Development Committee of the San Jose City Council. 

Outside of his work at City Hall, Councilmember Rocha can often be found coaching any number of youth sports teams where his three children are active participants.
