As a testament to its excellence in the creation, preservation, and improvement of San José’s affordable housing, the City’s Housing Department and its projects have been honored with the following accolades:

2012 Awards
  • Casa Feliz won the 2011 John Clancy Award sponsored by the Boston AIA (January 2012)
  • Casa Feliz has won the 2012 California Redevelopment Association (CRA) Award of Excellence in Sustainable Development which recognizes projects and programs that are outstanding examples of the redevelopment process that have resulted in building better communities. (December 2011)

2011 Awards
  • The City of San José has been selected the first recipient of the Urban Land Institute's Robert C. Larson Workforce Housing Public Policy Award (September 2011)
  • Casa Feliz has won the NAHRO Award of Excellence which recognizes outstanding innovation and achievement in housing and community development programs throughout the country. (August 2011)  
  • Casa Feliz has been awarded the NAHRO Award of Merit in Housing and Community Development. (May 2011)
  • The Foreclosure Help Center has been awarded the NAHRO Award of Merit in Housing and Community Development. (May 2011)

2010 Awards
  • The Fairways at San Antonio Court wins a Golden Nugget Merit Award - Affirmed Housing Group Newsletter (December 2010) 2010 NeighborWorks Government Service Award -- Leslye Corsiglia, San José Director of Housing
  • Governor Names Casa Feliz Studios Winner of 2010 Top Environmental Leadership Award (November 2010)
  • Affordable Housing Finance Readers Choice Awards, Green Award Winner -- Casa Feliz Studios
  • Home Depot Award -- Casa Feliz Studios
  • The NAHRO Award of Merit in Housing and Community Development has been awarded to Paseo Senter affordable housing development. This project was also nominated for NAHRO the National Awards of Excellence competition. (May 2010)
  • The NAHRO Award of Merit in Housing and Community Development has been awarded to Corde Terra Senior Affordable Housing development. This project was also nominated for the NAHRO National Awards of Excellence competition. (May 2010)

2009 Awards, Honorable Mentions & Articles
  • Residential Architect Design Award “RADA” – Merit Award for Affordable Housing awarded to Paseo Senter (February 2009) – Charities Housing
  • Paseo Senter was recognized as an Honorable Mention in the category of Affordable Housing by The Design Excellence Awards presented by Multi-Housing News in The Design Excellence Awards 2009 (November 2009) - Charities Housing
  • Casa Feliz Studio SRO (First Community Housing) wins LEED New Construction Gold – On November 23, 2009, the Housing Department was informed that Casa Feliz, a 60-unit energy-efficient SRO development for extremely low-income tenants, won the LEED New Construction GOLD from the U.S. Green Building Council. Additionally, Casa Feliz has won two Water Conservation Awards: Santa Clara Valley Stormwater Award and the Silicon Valley Water Conservation Award.
  • Gish Apartments (First Community Housing) is the recipient of the 2009 California Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Award of Excellence for Design. Gish also achieved GOLD ratings in both LEED for Homes Gold certification and LEED New Construction Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Gish Apartments is also honored as one of the 2009 Top Ten Green Projects by the The American Institute of Architects, Committee on the Environment (COTE) The Sierra Club published an article about a tenant who resides at this development. An article Gish Family Apartments, voted Best Green Project was published in the November 2008 issue of Affordable Housing Finance Magazine.
  • Corde Terra Senior Housing Project was featured as a Redevelopment/Reuse project of the Year Runner-Up in 2009 Business Journal Structures Award

  • 2008 NAHRO National Awards of Merit in Housing and Community Development.
  • 2008 Reader’s Choice Awards – recognition for the largest affordable housing development and collaborative effort involving numerous public agencies and private companies. Featured as Family Finalist in August 2008 issue of Affordable Housing Finance.
  • Featured in Novogradac Journal of Tax Credit Housing, February 2008, Volume 1, Issue II.

  • 2008 NAHRO National Awards of Merit in Program Innovation. Featured in NAHRO Journal of Housing & Community Development, November/December 2008
  • 2008 Reader’s Choice Awards - Recognition the Best Green Project. Featured as Green Finalist in August 2008 issue of Affordable Housing Finance. AHF readers named Gish Apartments this year's outstanding green project in Reader's Choice Awards.
