Stormwater Runoff
The Department of Transportation (DOT) is responsible for the maintenance of the storm sewer system to ensure both the quality and quantity of storm water runoff.
Storm Response
The DOT responds to calls on storm related issues. Typical calls include localized flooding, missing, broken or displaced manhole covers or grates, and downed
trees or tree limbs.
If you need to report any storm issues, please contact (408) 794-1900 weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., or (408) 277-8956 at all other times. Please note that this service is limited to infrastructure in the public right-of-way. Issues on private property remain the responsibility of the property owner.
Inlet Program
DOT crews inspect and clean out all storm drain inlets within the public right-of-way throughout the city once per year. This aids in the safe passage of runoff to the storm sewer system and intercepts pollutants that would otherwise reach our creeks and the bay.
Street Sweeping
Street sweeping has proven to be effective in collecting both larger debris that could block storm drains and in capturing pollutants from our street.
