Billing Changes for Recycling & Garbage Customers and Municipal Water System Customers
The City of San José is changing the garbage billing system to minimize expenses to ratepayers, control costs, and have a more efficient and easier-to-use bill payment process for customers. View the FAQs

Single-Family Residents
Charges for garbage and recycling services will be on the Santa Clara County Secured Property Tax Bill. Property tax bills are mailed in the fall and are payable in two installments or in a single lump sum.

Apartments & Condominiums with Communal Garbage Service and All Mobile Home Parks
Customers will continue to receive bills from the City of San José on a monthly basis.

San José Municipal Water System (North San José, Alviso, Evergreen, Edenvale, and Coyote Valley)
Customers will continue to receive bills every other month from the City of San José, and bills will only include charges for water service.

Effective July 1, 2015, the new online bill payment system will be available.
