Bay Trail
The Bay Trail is a planned trail in the Alviso community, in northern San Jose. The future trail alignments are north of Highway 237 and will link to the regional trail system that is planned to circle the San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay.

A reach of the Highway 237 Bikeway (between Zanker Road and Coyote Creek) is designated as part of the San Francisco Bay Trail.

The San Francisco Bay Trail is a planned regional trail that, when complete, will encircle San Francisco and San Pablo Bays with a continuous 500-mile network of bicycling and hiking trails. It will connect the shoreline of all nine Bay Area counties, link 47 cities, and cross the major toll bridges in the region.

San Jose's portion of the Bay Trail is not yet developed (except for designated reach of Highway 237 Bikeway), but you can already enjoy nearby levee trails, the historical Alviso community and the USFWS Interpretive Center located near Spreckles Avenue..

San Jose's Bay Trail master plan was adopted by the City Council in 2002. Once built, the San José portion of the trail will be approximately 13 miles in length and follow the shore and some roadways in Alviso.

0.8 mile. The Highway 237 Bikeway between Los Esteros Road and Coyote Creek is designated as part of the San Francisco Bay Trail and the Juan Bautista De Anza National Historic Trail.
