National Recreation Trail 
Four trail systems within San Jose's growing Trail Network designated as part of National Recreational Trail System. Learn more about NRT and find San Jose's trails in the national database.

  • Lower Guadalupe River Trail
  • Coyote Creek Trail
  • Highway 237 Bikeway
  • Penitencia Creek Trail (Alum Rock Park) - designated October 1973

San Francisco Bay Trail
The Highway 237 Bikeway is part of the San Francisco Bay Trail. Design work is underway currently to further develop the Bay Trail in the Alviso area of the city.

Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail
The Highway 237 Bikeway is part of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail with future San Francisco Bay Trail development being included under that designation.

Bay Area Ridge Trail
Penitencia Creek Trail designated as part of Bay Area Ridge Trail October 25, 2008.  

Bicycle Friendly Workplace
City of San José is awarded Platinum Status as Bicycle Friendly Workplace by the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition

Bicycle Friendly Community
League of American Bicyclists acknowledges San Jose with its bronze award in 2006 and 2008.
