The Office of Equality Assurance
It is the mission of the Office of Equality Assurance to implement, monitor and administer the City of San José living wage, prevailing wage and minimum wage policies.  The Office ensures that City contractors, City vendors and San José businesses pay their employees the correct wage and benefit rates in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.

The emphasis of the Office is to provide education, assistance and direction to San José business owners, City contractors and vendors.  By providing quick and easy access to accurate information, the Office helps to ensure that contractors and businesses maintain compliance.

The Office is committed to providing excellent services to our clients and administering a fair and unbiased enforcement program.

Clients include:

  • Contracting and vendor communities and their respective employees
  • San José business owners and their respective employees
  • Third party labor organizations
  • City Departments

Services Include:

  • Providing custom-designed labor compliance training to contractor, vendor and business communities upon request
  • Certified payroll review
  • On-site employee interviews
  • Investigation and resolution of living wage, prevailing wage and minimum wage claims
