Guidelines and Regulations 
An important part of planning your outdoor special event is familiarity with the relevant guidelines and regulations. Please review the community outreach guidelines and regulations for paseos and plazas below.           
All outdoor special events held on public property must have insurance that is acceptable to the city of San Jose Department of Risk Management. The certificate of insurance must include general liability, workman's compensation and auto insurance. Please review the insurance requirements..
Fire Marshal Guidelines
 All events that have a projected attendance of over 1,000 people must submit a public safety plan for the event. Please review the public safety plan, outdoor special event, portable propane and mobile food vendor guidelines
Zero Waste
The city of San Jose requires that all events follow sustainability guidelines. Additional requirements apply to events on public property that have a projected attendance of over 1,000 people per day. Please review the zero waste / sustainability guidelines and resources.
