Water Saving Tips
Everyone in San José has been asked to reduce their water use by 20 percent compared to 2013.

Save Water Indoors
It’s important to conserve water indoors, especially in the bathroom and laundry room where most indoor water use occurs. 
  1. Go check – find/fix leaks, save 15 gal. per day
  2. Go with the flow – use low flow showerheads, save 12 gal. per day
  3. Go express – reduce showers by 5 min., save 15 gal.
  4. Go load up – only do full loads of laundry, save 20 gal. per load

Save Water Outdoors
The following outdoor water use rules are in effect and apply to everyone in San José. View the full list of water use rules for residents.
  1. Be cool – water when it's coolest. Outdoor watering hours are restricted to before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m. and on three designated days when using the sprinkler system.
    • Odd numbered addresses – Mondays, Thursdays & Saturdays
    • Even numbered addresses – Tuesdays, Fridays & Sundays
    • No numbered address – Tuesdays, Fridays & Sundays
  2. Be in control – don’t let water flow into gutters or streets.
  3. Be a sharp shooter – with automatic shut-off nozzles on hoses.
  4. Be a sweeper – sweep sidewalks and driveways instead of hosing them down.
