Community Spotlight: Captain Jennifer G. Acojedo

Captain Jennifer G. Acojedo, Commander of 50th Multi-Role Bridge Company, is a District 8 native, the youngest of six kids and the only girl. In May of 2009, Captain Acojedo received her commission in the Corps of Engineers from the United States Military Academy. Captain Acojedo has served as Platoon Leader of the 557th Horizontal Construction Company in South Afghanistan, Executive Officer of the 617th Horizontal Construction Company in JBLM, WA, Battalion Operations Officer of the 94th Engineer Battalion, and Battalion Assistant Operations Officer of the 5th Engineer Battalion.

Captain Acojedo has received many military awards and decorations, including the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, Combat Action Badge, Basic Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge.
