The City of San José employs approximately 5,950 employees, who are represented by the eleven bargaining units (unions) below. The City Manager's Office of Employee Relations is responsible for negotiating on behalf of the City with representatives of those bargaining units regarding wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
