Disability Ordinance and Y-Rating

During the April 8, 2014, City Council meeting, an ordinance was approved that amended the Municipal Code to offer a position to a sworn employee in the Police and Fire Department Retirement Plan who under the revised definition of disability in the City Charter does not qualify for a service connected disability retirement.  The POA has filed a grievance regarding this disability ordinance.

Additionally, the City has proposed that if the position which the employee is placed is at a lower salary rate than the employee's current position, the employee will continue to be paid the salary rate he/she received in the former class ("Y-rating").  This is not in effect at this time, as the meet and confer process is ongoing.
